ABOUT THE LATEST RELEASE:

- Fonts are built-in to assure the IPA chars will be displayed correctly.
- Very easy installation.

The source of the phonetic transcriptions is Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary (3rd ed.), available from the Oxford Text Archive (http://www.ota.ahds.ac.uk). This is an English pronunciation dictionary which contains 70647 items with RP (Received Pronunciation) IPA phonetic transcriptions. 
The source of audio files is Merriam Webster's Dictionary (www.merriam-webster.com)


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION:

Operating Systems: Linux and any 32 bit MS Windows (95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP).
WikSpeak is written in Tcl-Tk language (Version 8.4). The package has included a Tcl-Tk run-time binary to execute the source file plus all the dependences to make installation straightforward. 


LINUX: DOWNLOAD, INSTALLATION AND PROGRAM START:

1. Download wikspeak1.1.tar.gz file to any location on your computer.
2. Untar the file, the wikspeak folder will be created.
3. Using any File Manager program (For Example, Konqueror), browse inside the wikspeak folder, and double click on the wikspeak.sh file to start the program.

PROXY SERVER SUPPORT (Only for users using a Proxy server to connect to Internet):
The blank cfgproxy.txt file (inside WikSpeak folder) must be edited with the connection parameters as follows:

1. Open the cfgproxy.txt file using any plain text editor. 
2. Type the NAME of the PROXY HOST in the first line and go to the next line by pressing the Enter key. 
3. Type the PROXY PORT NUMBER in the second line.
4. Save the changes.
5. Start WikSpeak and play any pronunciation to check if the configuration is correct.


WINDOWS: DOWNLOAD, INSTALLATION AND PROGRAM START:

1. Download wikspeak1.1.zip file to any location on your computer.
2. Unzip the file, the wikspeak folder will be created.
3. Using any File Manager program (for example, Window Explorer), browse inside the wikspeak folder, and double click on the wikspeak.exe file to start the program.

Currently WikSpeak is in the phase of stable development.
Therefore the project is pointing to fix program bugs, facilitate program installation and improve
